What is Happening The Week of Jan 4th.

A group working with FDS is coming from Colorado and is going to be staying at the church.  A special thanks to all those making their stay while working easier.Don’t forget our food pantry.  There is an ongoing need for your support.  Please bring supplies on Sunday.

New Year For the Blog Administrator

Church Needs

As we were reminded in church this morning we need to make a special effort to fill the food bank.  The items in most need are peanut butter, cereal, soup, mac & cheese, jelly, otemeal, small bags of rice or beans, canned fruit, canned meats, canned vegetables.  These contributions can be left at the appropriate spot at the rear of the church sanctuary.

New FDS-TA Web Site!

Did you know that Friends Disaster Service Texas Area (FDS-TA) has a new web site?  http://www.fdsta.org.  This site will be used to post information on new projects and status updates on existing projects.  It is also possible to post donations to FDS-TA via paypal or credit card.  Work is in progress to create an image gallery of the work which FDS-TA is working on and has completed.FDS-TA hopes that the site encourages (more…)

Obituary - Jack O. Pierce

Pastor Jack O. Pierce, 87 years of age, a great humanitarian and true man of God answered his call to heaven on September 16, 2008 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Houston, Texas.Pastor Jack was born in Wichita, Ks on August 3, 1921 to John & Mary Elizabeth Pierce. Pastor Jack was in the Army/Air Force as a medic. After his discharge he moved to Haviland, Ks and attended Friends Bible College and was ordained as a Friends minister. (more…)

Bowling date

Want to join us for bowling. On Sunday, August 10, we will enjoy lunch together and then go to Alpha Lanes in Clear Lake to bowl. Please RSVP with Kathy so enough lanes will be reserved. This event is open to all who want to join us.

Future studies

There are new studies being prepared for the fall session. 

On Wednesday, the focus will shift to discovering the keys to powerful prayer.  Kathy will lead a six week study titled, “When God’s People Pray” by Jim Cymbala. If needed, child care will be provided. The starting date will be announced.

 

During the 9:30 Sunday school hour, Kathy will be leading a 12 week Bible study with a unique gardening emphasis, “A Down to Earth Bible Study, for growing in God’s Kingdom.” Please let Kathy know if you are interested, so materials can be bought. This class will begin after Labor Day.

 

The youth will be leading a VBS based study for the children of the church during the Sunday service…starting time to be announced. We will begin during the Sunday service time and last for 2 hours. The kids will be fed during this time, so parents will be able to enjoy a kid-free lunch after service. More details to follow.  We are planning a September starting date and it will run for 5 weeks, only on Sundays.
