Instructions (Part 8)

Instructions (8)

Society says, “If it feels good, do it.” That kind of thinking has lead many people down a painful path of evil. However, God’s word says not only are we to abstain from evil; but, also the appearance of evil. We are to be above reproach.  In the churches we have attended, it has been the practice of our pastors to not meet with a female privately without the presence of another female. This practice follows Paul’s instructions to abstain from the appearance of evil. Another way of putting it is to be above reproach or be a good witness.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit Paul wrote, “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit.  Despise not prophesyings.  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.”  1 Thessalonians 5:14-22 (KJV)

Today, may you find joy in your journey and peace in your spirit through close communion with our God.  Learn about Him and His plans for you in His word. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.  Abstain from the appearance of evil.
