Forgiveness

When I think of forgiveness, I think of Christ and what he did on the cross to forgive us all from our sins.  However, when I think of earthly people who have demonstrated forgiveness to the max, I think of Corrie Ten Boom.  She watched her sister die at the hands of a ruthless, cruel guard in Ravensbrook Women’s Camp during World War II.  At the end of the war, that guard attended one of her ministry gatherings in which she spoke about forgiveness.  When he approached her and asked for her forgiveness, she realized she must forgive him or her ministry meant nothing.  She asked God to help her forgive him. She took his hand and forgave him.  Those are two examples of forgiveness – Christ, who was fully God and fully man and Corrie as a human.  I’m encouraged by both and know that I will never suffer the pain and devastation they suffered.  I’m not equating Corrie with Christ except that she demonstrated Christ like forgiveness.  We must do the same and forgive others as Christ has forgiven us.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul records, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”  Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)

Today, ask God to help you forgive those people you need to forgive and then forgive them.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing.
