Giving Thanks
As we approach the season designated as “thanksgiving,” I have to wonder if we are truly a thankful people. For what are you thankful? Is it material or physical things? Would you be thankful if you had less? or more? Giving thanks is an individual act; however, Paul has given us some specifics as to how, when and to whom to give thanks. God truly has our best interests at heart and because of Him we can give thanks – no matter our situation.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote, “speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:19-20 (NIV)
Today, take some time and give thanks to God the Father for everything.
