Looking vs. Seeing

Looking vs Seeing

When you look at someone, what do you see?  Do you see their outward appearance?  Do you see their heart or the pain they may be experiencing?  All too often, we see someone for the clothes they are wearing or their hair style; however, we fail to get to know them well enough to know if they have deep seated hurts.  While this is true of most everyone, we have a God who looks upon our hearts and sees our hurts.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Samuel recorded, “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature, because I have rejected him. Man does not see what the Lord sees, for man sees what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (HCSB)

Today, give thanks for our God who sees your heart.
