Morning Thoughts – Saved

Saved
What is being saved and why do I need to be saved? When Adam and
Eve were created, they were in relationship with God.  God walked with
them in the cool of the evening.  (Genesis 3:8) But they had disobeyed
God and hid from God.  They had broken their relationship with God.
They tried to cover themselves with leaves – thinking to hide their bodies;
but God, because He is Holy cannot look upon their disobedience; therefore,
He killed an animal and made coverings from the animal skins.  The first shed
blood for a covering of sin and that broken relationship.   Through the ages
men have offered blood sacrifices for sin in an effort to maintain/restore
that broken relationship with God.  However, mans efforts were not good
enough to completely restore that relationship.  God took action and sent
His Son, Jesus to restore man from that broken relationship with Him and
save mankind from forever being separated from God.  His Son provided
the way to restoration/salvation.
The author of Hebrews (inspired by the Holy Spirit) wrote, “And if under
the old system the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of young cows
could cleanse men’s bodies from sin, just think how much more surely
the blood of Christ will transform our lives and hearts. His sacrifice frees
us from the worry of having to obey the old rules and makes us want to
serve the living God. For by the help of the eternal Holy Spirit, Christ
willingly gave himself to God to die for our sins—he being perfect, without
a single sin or fault.  Christ came with this new agreement so that all who
are invited may come and have forever all the wonders God has promised
them. For Christ died to rescue them from the penalty of the sins they had
committed while still under that old system.”  Hebrews 9:13-15 (TLB)
Today, reflect on what Christ did for you when He sacrificed Himself.
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing.
