Much vs. Little

Everyone knew she was a sinner. Simon, the Pharisee confirmed her sinfulness and accused Jesus of not knowing about her sinful state. She was not concerned about what people said or thought about her. She came to wash Jesus’s feet. Her tears and hair were the elements she used. She kissed and anointed Jesus’s feet with ointment. To teach Simon about forgiveness and love, Jesus told Simon about the debt of two debtors – one owing 500 pence and the other 50 who were both forgiven their debt. Jesus asked Simon who would love the most the one who was forgiven much or the one forgiven little? Simon answered – the one who was forgiven the most. Jesus confirmed Simon’s answer was the right answer.  You see when we get a grasp of our own sinfulness and God’s great love for us, we love Him with every fiber of our being. Have you been forgiven much or little?  Although she asked for nothing, she received forgiveness of her sins. That same forgiveness is available to all who call upon the name of Jesus. (Story paraphrased from Luke 7:37-48)

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Luke recorded, “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.” Luke 7:47-48 (KJV)

Today, realize that no matter what you have done, Jesus forgives all who call upon Him.
