The Coming of the Lord (Part 3)

James was confident of the Lord’s return and offers us some encouragement as to how to wait.

James 5:7-8

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

James said we are to be patient when waiting for the coming of the Lord. Just as the farmer plants his crops and waits for the harvest, we are also to be patiently waiting for the return of the Lord.  Interestingly, the analogy of the farmer and our waiting is we are to be planting the seed of the Gospel and patiently waiting for the fruit to arrive while we wait for the Lord’s return. James said the coming of the Lord is drawing near.  It is nearer now than when we first believed.

2 Timothy 4:8

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Paul said he was looking forward to receiving a crown of righteousness, which God will give not only to him; but, to all who love his appearing.  Are you looking for the Lord’s return and are you anxiously waiting for and loving the return of Jesus?  Get ready – He’s coming.

Today, while you still can, share the good news of God’s love demonstrated through Jesus death, burial, and resurrection.  He’s alive and because He lives, we live also.

If you have never received Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, ask Him to come into your heart, forgive you of your sins and you will receive His new life.

Remember God Loves you and I Do Too.
