The Boat

We are all in this together.  We are all in the same boat.  Those are phrases which have been used repeatedly over the past few weeks.  Those words remind me of a story. Once upon a time when Jesus was here on the earth, He told his disciples to get in the boat and let us go to the other side of the lake.  Well, you know what happened – a severe storm blew in and the boat was filling with water.  Now Jesus was so unconcerned he was asleep.  But His disciples, who were in the boat with Jesus became fearful. Can you imagine being in the boat with Jesus and being afraid? Hum! Sounds familiar doesn’t it?  You see as a Christian; we are all in the boat with Jesus.  While He calmed the storm and the waters and wind obeyed Him, He is the same today as then.  Two things to notice in today’s scripture – (1) the disciples went to Jesus with their fears and (2) after He had calmed the storm, He asked them where is your faith? (This used to trouble me until I saw one day that Jesus said, “Let us go to the other side.”)  You see, when you are in the boat with Jesus, He will see you to the other side.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Luke recorded Jesus when He said, Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. Luke 8:22-25 (KJV)

Today, let us join together in prayer exercising our faith in Christ to see us through to the other side of this pandemic.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing.

Remember God Loves you and I Do Too.

Jesus is coming – are you ready?
