The Cross (Part 2)

The Cross (Part 2)

During the Roman Empire, the cross meant only one thing “death.” To die on the cross was humiliating and painful.  When His followers thought he was going to usher in the Kingdom and deliver them from Roman rule, he was popular; however, when He talked about His death, even His disciples could not give up their own plans for deliverance.  When you became a Christian, did you give up your plans for your life and surrender to His plans for you? Your cross is not to bear some horrific burden or disease.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote, “And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Mark 8:34 (KJV)

Today, think about your cross in relation to the cross of Christ.
